We are currently learning how people with disabilities can access and enjoy a lifestyle similar to able-bodied people like all of us in Room 13.
One of our visitors was Stefan Hervel who is a teacher at Maitai School where all the students have disabilities and severe handicaps. Stefan showed us an amazing array of specialised adaptive and assistive technology. For students who have poor control of their arm
s and hands, some of the equipment was activated by the student pushing down on a press pad.

In this photo Kyiah is showing us how a person in a wheelchair can enjoy moving under a flapping parachute and can feel the strong breeze it creates.

Some of the equipment was a lot of fun to play with. We enjoyed playing games with a huge stretchy multi-coloured band.
